Trivandrum City Corporation has decided to install plastic shredder units in every health circle in the city.<\/p>\n
A fresh proposal on this regard has been sent to Suchitwa Mission. The corporation plans to call tenders for shredders once it receives the approval from the Suchitwa Mission.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Plastic Shredder units will be installed in vacant spaces at office premises.\u00a0 The plastic shredding unit at Palayam which has been inoperative for 2 years will also be replaced. The two shredders installed at Palayam in 2012 turned inoperable just 2 days after inauguration.<\/p>\n
Shredding unit with a capacity of 50 kg of plastic an hour were installed at Palayam at a cost of Rs 1,35,000. The unit can process plastic waste from about 5000 homes. Corporation will replace the old shredder once they get approval from Suchitwa Mission.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the civic body re-launched its anti-plastic drive in the city, by making it mandatory for officials of the main office and zonal offices of the corporation to completely abandon use of plastic. Officials who bring plastic covers to office will be fined and they will be required to bring their lunches either in steel lunchboxes or wrapped with plantain leaves.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
