Kochi girl Sophia M Joe is going to represent India in Miss World Deaf and Dumb contest to be held in Prague, Czech Republic on July 17.<\/p>\n

The 22-year year old Sophia was the first runner-up in Miss India Deaf and Dumb competition held in Delhi. However, she was chosen to represent India in the Miss World Deaf and Dumb as the winner declined to participate in the contest.<\/p>\n

The BA second year student from St. Xavier’s college in Ernakulam is hopeful that she would attain her biggest dream. Her father Joe Francis is an officer with Hindustan Petroleum and mother a school teacher.<\/p>\n

Sophia was detected to be deaf when she was 10 months old. “She is grown up like any other ordinary student. Though we home schooled her for some years, later we admitted her to an ordinary school and trained her ourselves. We are always with her in fulfilling her ambitions and this infused much confidence in her,” said her mother Goriatty to India Today.<\/p>\n

Sophia is interested in glass painting, sari designing, fashion designing and had already shown her talent in the field of athletics and modelling. She also walked the ramp in Kochi Fashion Week for designer Sanjana John last year.\u00a0 Sophia who is passionate about car racing, ambitions to become a car racer in the future.<\/p>\n

Currently undergoing training in dance, Sophia hopes to bring laurels to India in the contest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
