Industrial Development Zones (IDZ) will be setup across the state linking airports and ports. With the Industrial Development Zones, government hopes to attract large investment and create more job opportunities for the youth.<\/p>\n
The Industrial zones will come up at Trivandrum, Kochi, Kozhikode and Kannur. For this an estimated 300 acres<\/strong> of land has been identified so far for the setting up the zones. An in-principle nod for acquisition of land for the IDZ has been given to the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Kinfra). The agency has already started the preliminary works.<\/p>\n Target industries identified in IDZs include food and agro-based units, engineering, IT and IT-enabled services, textiles, gems and jewellery.\u00a0<\/span>Proximity to industrial zones with logistic hubs such as airports and ports will accelerate the overall industrial development of the state. Lack of basic infrastructure, water, electricity and transport facilities are the main hurdles currently faced by the IDZs.<\/span><\/p>\n The total expected cost of the project is around Rs1,850 crore<\/strong> of which state government will provide Rs500 crore.\u00a0 Rs.350 crore will be from acquired income and the remaining Rs.1,000 crore needed for the project would be raised through bonds.<\/p>\n The Industrial Development Zones will attract investment from the private sector and is expected to promote Kerala as an investor-friendly State.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Industrial Development Zones (IDZ) will be setup across the state linking airports and ports.
