With this, Kochi Metro Rail Ltd has become the first metro project in the country that has managed to secure funding over Rs 1,000 cr on sole banking basis.<\/p>\n<p>KMRL filed the loan application June 2013 and after evaluation final sanction was issued on September 2013. The bank gave several relaxations including waiver of all charges, such as commitment charges, prepayment premium charges etc.<\/p>\n<p>Of the Rs5,200 crore project Rs 2170 cr is from external funding.\u00a0 Earlier KMRL had signed agreement with the &#8216;Agence Fran\u00e7aise de D\u00e9veloppement&#8217; (AFD) a French based funding agency for Rs1,500 crore. Now with the domestic loan from Canara Bank, the financial closure of Kochi Metro is formally completed.<\/p>\n<p><b>Ready to loan Trivandrum and Kozhikode Monorail projects<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Canara Bank ,CMD\u00a0 RK Dubey said that Kerala can depend on Canara Bank for financial support for the proposed monorail projects in Trivandrum and Kozhikode. Earlier, the bank had volunteered to finance the Kannur International Airport project when no other bank was inclined to do so.<\/p>\n<p>The 25-km metro is expected ease the traffic congestion of a Kochi.
