{"id":20018,"date":"2014-08-04T23:26:37","date_gmt":"2014-08-04T17:56:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/?p=20018"},"modified":"2014-08-04T23:26:49","modified_gmt":"2014-08-04T17:56:49","slug":"phase-ii-projects-of-trivandrum-international-airport-to-start-soon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/phase-ii-projects-of-trivandrum-international-airport-to-start-soon\/","title":{"rendered":"Phase-II projects of Trivandrum International Airport to start soon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>#Entethiruvananthapuram:<\/strong><\/em> The Phase-2 infrastructure up gradation works of the Trivandrum International Airport (TIA) is expected to be completed by 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Under the Phase-2, the International airport will get parallel taxi-track, an isolation bay, new aerobridges, turning pad etc. The 1,595-metre-long parallel taxiway which is being constructed at a cost of Rs52 crore will help to decrease the runway occupancy time of the aircraft. At present, the runway occupancy time of the aircraft is 8 minutes. The isolation bay with an area of 18,543Sq.m will be constructed at a total cost of Rs 61.27 crore. The isolation bay is used to isolate the aircraft during emergencies such as a bomb threat.<\/p>\n<p>Two \u2018turning pads\u2019 will come up on the sides of the Runway 14 and 32 at a cost of Rs 14.72 crore. AAI has already started civil works for the new aerobridge at a cost of Rs 20.9 crore. At present the airport has five aerobridges, two at the domestic terminal and three at the international. The additional aerobridge will decongest the rush during peak hours. In the domestic terminal, the security hold area is to be expanded at a cost of Rs.10.36 crore.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A high-level team consisting of civil aviation, Bureau of Immigration and the Intelligence and department of tourism will visit Trivandrum International Airport to assess arrangements for the e-Visa (Electronic Travel Authorization) for the tourist arriving on <a title=\"Visa-On-Arrival Service at Trivandrum Airport from August 15\" href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/visa-on-arrival-service-from-august-15\/\" target=\"_blank\">visa-on-arrival<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Trivandrum International Airport is witnessing an increase in revenue, especially from non-aero activities and user development fees (UDF). In 2010-11, the revenue generated was Rs 112.59 crore which increased to Rs 186.38 crore in 2012-13 periods. In 2013-14 period, it is Rs 205.04 crore.
