The meeting will be attended by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and other Ministers as well as top officials of Finance, Revenue, Public Works, Transport and Health departments.<\/p>\n<p>The 29 Km road widening project was stalled due to land acquisition issues. The issues that will be discussed in the meeting will be relocation of a mosque, Sree Narayana Guru Memorial and Gandhi memorial near the KSRTC compound. The issue of rehabilitation of traders will also be discussed in the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Second phase of the project will be discusses in the meeting too. This will include planning, budgeting, and allocation of funds. A team will be appointed to address the land acquisition responsibilities in the second phase. The 29-kilometre stretch is planned to be widened to 30.2 metre. The revised alignment was first approved in 2012. Since then, land acquisition has been progressing slowly. A 5.5 kilometres is expected to be complete by this month.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 30 hectares of land had to be acquired for the widening of Karamana-Vazhimukku stretch. 873 cases were filed by private parties along the road and around 80% of the land has been acquired. The compensation for the remaining cases will be decided based on the new Act called the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 passed by Lok Sabha.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A meeting to address the land acquisition issues of Karamana-Kaliyikkavila road widening project will be held on August 13.
