A Cultural Recreation Centre planned to set up on KWA land on Manaveeyam Road has hit a roadblock after Kerala Water Authority objected the project citing security reasons. The proposal for setting up the cultural centre was put forward by the \u2018Manaveeyam cultural fellowship\u2019.<\/p>\n
Manaveeyam cultural fellowship members submitted the proposal for the recreational centre to the government with an aim to revamp Manaveeyam Road as the cultural centre of the city. According to the plan, the place could be made into a centre of attraction for tourists visiting Trivandrum. \u00a0The Cultural Recreation Centre will have facilities for green room and toilet.<\/p>\n
KWA officials turned down proposal citing security threat to a water filtering plant located near the Manaveeyam Road. KWA also said that, the department is all set lay a water pipeline from Observatory Hills to PTP Nagar and the release of the land would be impossible as the project requires the particular land.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had lost land during widening of the Manaveeyam Road and the said recreational facility will be a threat to the security of the water filtering plant located near the road,\u201d said a KWA official to Indian Express.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, \u2018Manaveeyam cultural fellowship\u2019 said that the group would initiate further discussions with the government after the Onam celebrations.
