{"id":20351,"date":"2014-08-26T15:34:55","date_gmt":"2014-08-26T10:04:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/?p=20351"},"modified":"2014-08-26T15:34:55","modified_gmt":"2014-08-26T10:04:55","slug":"cctv-cameras-and-gps-on-all-public-transit-systems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/cctv-cameras-and-gps-on-all-public-transit-systems\/","title":{"rendered":"CCTV Cameras and GPS on all Public Transit systems"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The state government has decided to act upon the Union government\u2019s Rs.1,405-crore project to provide safe and secure road transportation to the people.<\/p>\n<p>Mooted by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the scheme will be executed in 32 cities over a period of 2 years. Cities with a population of more than 1 million will be included in the first phase of the project. In the second phase, 21 cities will be covered under the scheme.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the scheme, closed circuit television (CCTVs) and GPS will be installed in all public transit systems to ensure safety and security for the public. Apart from these, there will be facilities like emergency button for alerting and video-recording of the incidents in public transport vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>All the information will be fed to a unified system at the national and State level. The Vehicle Security Tracking System (VSTS) at the national-level will be handled by a service provider entrusted by the Ministry. The VSTS will be integrated with the State vehicle registration and driving licence databases and also with the vehicle tracking technologies opted by the State.<\/p>\n<p>A passenger information system will also be introduced through smart phones and display on bus stops and interactive voice response systems.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The state government has decided to act upon the Union government\u2019s Rs.1,405-crore project to provide safe and secure road transportation to the people.
