Proving this perception wrong, a group of young people in Trivandrum has come together and formed a society with the aim of helping the less fortunate among us.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Named YESS (Young Energetic Souls to Save), it is a charity organization with a mission to lend a helping hand to the needy and poor sections of the society.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Coming from different backgrounds and studying in different colleges, these youngsters are united by the desire to do something good for the society. YESS took shape in 2013 and at present it has more than 120 members and the number is growing.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ldzgWzDVhuQ\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The activities of the society include helping economically backward students to get education, spotting out brilliant students among them and providing funds to pursue higher studies. Another mission is to provide food and monetary help to the sick and poor people. YESS also extends help to the mentally retarded staying in different orphanages all over the state. They have distributed notebooks to the needy children and organized blood donation camps. Recently they conducted a clean-up drive at the Government Homoeo Medical College Trivandrum. They are also serving food packets to the hungry people on the streets on a regular basis.<\/p>\n<p>Another praiseworthy deed of YESS is the sponsoring of a girl child from an orphanage in Tamil Nadu. Recently, YESS also undertook a seemingly impossible task, building a new home to a family in Vellayani, Trivandrum whose house had collapsed. For raising the necessary funds YESS sold lottery tickets during the Attukal Pongala. They managed to raise Rs 1 Lakh that day and with the support of Indhira Vikas Yojana, the house was completed in six months.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s heartening that these youngsters with their determination and compassion have managed to bring cheer to other people\u2019s lives.
