{"id":20554,"date":"2014-09-23T18:28:29","date_gmt":"2014-09-23T12:58:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/?p=20554"},"modified":"2014-09-25T21:55:09","modified_gmt":"2014-09-25T16:25:09","slug":"rcc-trivandrum-gets-national-accreditation-elevated-to-state-cancer-institute","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/rcc-trivandrum-gets-national-accreditation-elevated-to-state-cancer-institute\/","title":{"rendered":"RCC Trivandrum gets National accreditation, Elevated to State Cancer Institute"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"RCC Trivandrum; A real blessing for the Cancer Patients\" href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/rcc-trivandrum\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Regional Cancer Centre (RCC)<\/a>, one of the premier cancer care centres in South India is being elevated as State Cancer Institute. <strong>Union Minister for Health Harsh Vardhan declared RCC Trivandrum as one among the 20 RCCs in the country chosen to be elevated as the apex State Cancer Institutes (SCI)<\/strong>, at a function held here on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Besides declaring it as State Cancer Institute, an ambitious Rs 120 core development plan for Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) has also been declared.\u00a0 A host of new equipment for treatment and diagnostics acquired by the hospital, utilising State government funds of Rs.9.5 crore, will also be formally inaugurated on the occasion.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Besides declaring it as State Cancer Institute, an ambitious Rs 120 core development plan for Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) has also been declared.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The State Cancer Institute will be the apex institution in the State for cancer-related activities. SCI will coordinate the activities of other institutes in the state dealing with tertiary care for cancer. Apart from these, SCI will diagnosis and referral treatments, develop treatment protocols and undertake research in the field of cancer treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, many facilities such as anaesthetic facilities, up gradation of clinical laboratory with 5 part haematology analyser, in patient pharmacy services and round the clock pharmacy services were launched. Round the clock chemotherapy service and bio gas plant for zero level waste management was also introduced at the RCC Trivandrum.<\/p>\n<p>RCC Trivandrum which caters to patients from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and even Maldives, had registered 2,49,362\u00a0 patients between the period of 1981 and 2011.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Regional Cancer Centre (RCC), one of the premier cancer care centres in South India is being elevated as State Cancer Institute.
