Among those who express concern over the move are Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and many big-wigs from IT sector.<\/p>\n<p>The decision of CITU comes at a time the state is poised to make great strides in this sector. With the completion of Smart City Kochi, Technocity Trivandrum and the Rs 1200 crore investment for Downtown Technopark by US based Taurus, it is expected that 1 laksh of job opportunities will be generated in the coming years. How CITU\u2019s decision will impact our IT growth at a time like this remains to be seen.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Often militant trade unions have been cited as a reason for the reluctance of investors coming to Kerala. Investors are wary of sinking crores of Rupees in Kerala and we also have umpteen examples of industries folding up due to this very reason.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Unlike other industries IT has many specialities. Here, the completion of a project within the stipulated time-frame is crucial. It is well known that frequent strikes and harthals are the bane of industries in Kerala. Often militant trade unions have been cited as a reason for the reluctance of investors coming to Kerala. Investors are wary of sinking crores of Rupees in Kerala and we also have umpteen examples of industries folding up due to this very reason.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-20592\" src=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/files\/2014\/09\/san12-3.jpg\" alt=\"san12-3\" width=\"565\" height=\"222\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Those who have been in the IT industry for years point out that in this sector there is little need of collective bargaining as the employees are well paid, given good facilities and generally not exploited. If an employee is dissatisfied he will always seek greener pastures. There have been reports of exploitation of employees in this sector,\u201d said Senior CITU\u00a0leader and former CPI-M member of the Rajya Sabha, K.
