Conditions apply."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last year during May, &#8216;Buggy&#8217; an electric powered vehicle was launched in Trivandrum Zoo to ferry around people inside the zoo premises.<\/p>\n<p>Now,<strong> the Buggy has been introduced in Trivandrum Central Station to enable hassle-free movement for senior citizens, disabled, and the sick, between various platforms.<\/strong> Each Cart that costs Rs 5 lakh, will be provided by Dowins Resources Pvt. Ltd (DRPL) as part of Corporate Social Responsibility.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Ferry cart can carry three people at a time between platforms by moving along a trolley path at the beginning and end of the platform<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Ferry cart can carry three people at a time between platforms by moving along a trolley path at the beginning and end of the platform. The service will be available free round the clock. A trained driver holding a LMV License will operate these carts. A three member team will be posted at the station to operate the ferry cart.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-20724\" src=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/files\/2014\/09\/golf-ferry-cart-trivandrum-central-railwaystation.jpg\" alt=\"golf-ferry-cart-trivandrum-central-railwaystation\" width=\"565\" height=\"350\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As these carts are battery operated, they are pollution-free and noiseless. There is also a small luggage compartment for passengers who use the carts. Railways will provide free electricity and an enclosure to charge the battery. The battery takes 8 to 10 hours to charge to run for a day.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from Trivandrum Central, the ferry cart service will be available in Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam North, Ernakulam South and Thrissur stations. Two carts each will be introduced in Trivandrum Central, Ernakulam North, Ernakulam South and Thrissur and one each in Kollam, Alappuzha and Kottayam stations.<\/p>\n<p>Railway also plans to generate advertisement income from these carts.
