The Kerala Tourism Department’s ambitious plan of turning Kovalam into a world-class tourist destination by 2042 will be prepared only after considering suggestions and opinion of the public in the region.<\/p>\n

Kerala Tourism proposed the project in 2012 to transform Kovalam into a world-class tourist destination. As per the plan, Kovalam-Poovar belt, which has the Light House, Eve\u2019s and Samudra beaches, satellite beaches of Pozhiyoor and Poovar, and several pocket beaches along the 17-km coastline, will be redeveloped by Kerala Tourism.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Kovalam-Poovar project will be developed in three phases.<\/strong> The first phase includes the area between Kovalam and Vizhinjam and the second phase from Chowara to Adimalathura. While the third phase include Poovar and Pozhiyoor.<\/p>\n

Tourism Department envisages clean and friendly beaches. It also includes improving the facilities for the tourists. The primary objective is to create a corridor considering the social, cultural, and heritage aspects in addition to infrastructure. In infrastructure, centralised parking facility, amphitheatres, adventure parks, food courts, clock rooms and reception centres are envisaged. The project also aims to lower the pollution in the region by implementing solid and liquid waste collection and its disposal.<\/strong> There are also plans for developing the small islands along the shore into tourist spots.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
