The technical committee which was meant to scrutinise the Expression of Interest (EOI) sent by various firms, is yet to be passed by the Corporation Council. Only with the council\u2019s assent can the committee be appointed.<\/p>\n<p>The technical committee was supposed to have members from the KSEB, Agency for Non-Conventional Energy and Rural Technology (ANERT), Energy Management Centre the nodal agency for leading the LED campaign.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-20839 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/files\/2014\/10\/trivandrum-ledr-streetlight.jpg\" alt=\"trivandrum-ledr-streetlight\" width=\"500\" height=\"343\" \/><\/p>\n<p>LED streetlight project is to replace all the 84,000 streetlight in the city with energy efficient LED lights. The corporation is looking for a \u2018<strong>zero investment model\u2019<\/strong> for the project. So far eleven companies have responded to Corporation&#8217;s EOI.<\/p>\n<p><strong>As per this model Corporation will not spend money on this.<\/strong> Instead, the money saved in the electricity bill will be paid to the company. The company will maintain the street lights for a period of 8 to 9 years and then will have to buy it back. The existing tube lights will also be taken by the company.<\/p>\n<p>Trivandrum Corporation is also looking at other cities that implemented LED Street lights.
