Those who dump garbage on the street beware, you are being watched.\u00a0 Trivandrum Corporation and City police have joined hands to crackdown people who dump garbage on the street with the help of CCTV Cameras.<\/p>\n

In the first phase cameras will be installed at 15 locations across the city<\/strong> where there is a serious problem of garbage dumping. Police will register case against those who are caught dumping garbage on the street.\u00a0 A huge fine (proportional to the garbage they dumped) will be charged too. Their vehicle will be confiscated and if there is a permit, it will be cancelled.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s not all; photos and other information of the individuals will be published on the newspaper.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Recently Corporation has setup Nirmal Kiosks<\/a> where people can hand over the waste to the kiosks for a fee of Rs.5. It was found that people are throwing garbage on those very streets where Nirmal Kiosks are present.\u00a0 It seems like some people are reluctant to pay even a small fee of Rs5 for their garbage.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is estimated that around 100 tonnes of garbage are generated each day in Trivandrum City and 40% of the garbage aren\u2019t processed scientifically.<\/strong> Piling up garbage and burning it on the street isn\u2019t the right way to dispose garbage.<\/p>\n

With people throwing waste on the streets, which clog the drains, it has become a Herculean task to keep Trivandrum clean.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
