City Roads developed under the Thiruvananthapuram City Road Improvement Project (TCRIP) will be repaired soon.<\/p>\n
Initially it was planned to do a micro-surfacing of the road corridors where there is wear and tear due to heavy traffic. However, Kerala Road Fund Board (KRFB) turned down the request of Thiruvananthapuram Road Development Company Ltd. (TRDCL). Instead, TRDCL will do ‘Profile corrections’ on CRIP roads developed in phases I, II, and III. Profile correction is the process of rectifying localised defects such as potholes or depressions, instead of re-tarring the entire stretch.<\/p>\n

Profile correction will be carried out on R.R. Lamp-Kowdiar, Vellayambalam-Sasthamangalam, Eenchakkal, Press club, M.G. Road, Poonthi road, Attakulangara-Eenchakkal-Nalumukku-Old Collectorate, Museum-Nandavanam-RBI, Kowdiar-Pattom and Kumarapuram-Poonthi Road-KIMS-Venpalavattom<\/p>\n
The repairing of the roads will cost Rs7 Crore. TRDCL has identified 3 to 4 inch depression on some roads due to heavy traffic or water seepage. In these stretches, a 2.5 cm to 3.5 cm bituminous macadam and a topping of 2.5 cm to 3.5 cm bituminous concrete will be applied. On Some other damaged stretches they will do \u2018scarification\u2019 process which does not require any digging. Those stretches damaged by digging to repair pipe bursts, shifting of utilities, and water-logging, also will be repaired.<\/p>\n
