{"id":21179,"date":"2014-10-28T07:00:25","date_gmt":"2014-10-28T01:30:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/?p=21179"},"modified":"2014-10-28T07:22:28","modified_gmt":"2014-10-28T01:52:28","slug":"national-train-enquiry-system-ntes-android-app","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/national-train-enquiry-system-ntes-android-app\/","title":{"rendered":"CRIS Follows Suit, Launches Android App that Tracks Train Schedules"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following the <a href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/news-search\/?q=irctc&amp;zone=news\">Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation<\/a>\u2019s launch of its mobile apps on various platforms last month, it seems the country has finally begun to take mobile more seriously as a platform for business and services.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-21187 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/files\/2014\/10\/irctc-National-Train-Enquiry-System-NTES-android-app.jpg\" alt=\"irctc-National-Train-Enquiry-System-NTES-android-app\" width=\"560\" height=\"359\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Gaming Realms, the company that operates <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freebingohunter.com\/\">Free Bingo Hunter<\/a>, has claimed that \u201cGrowth in mobile internet is one of the most powerful trends in the internet landscape and the global smartphone and tablet installed base is expected to exceed the PC installed base during 2013,\u201d and this has been seen in market shifts all over the world. It has prompted national governments to begin looking for ways to fully utilize the growing popularity of mobile phones.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>The app even shows you where exactly your train is if you missed it.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>India has also recently seen SMS become an accepted form of \u201cofficial document\u201d, and the IRCTC now allows for the booking and tracking of trains. Not one to be left behind, the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) has also launched an app on Android which allows users to keep track of train schedules as well. The app is called the<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=cris.icms.ntes&amp;hl=en\">National Train Enquiry System (NTES)<\/a><\/strong>, and it allows users to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Spot the trains they\u2019d like to board<\/li>\n<li>Check train schedules<\/li>\n<li>Check for cancelled trains<\/li>\n<li>Check for rescheduled trains<\/li>\n<li>Check for diverted trains, and much more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The app even shows you where exactly your train is if you missed it. The only problem is, with the app being so new, many users have complained that it still lacks some key features, such as displaying information about the PNR, where it is, and how much tickets cost. And unlike the IRCTC App, the NTES App doesn\u2019t allow you to make any bookings \u2013 it\u2019s simply there to give you up-to-date information, and that\u2019s it.<\/p>\n<p>It certainly seems like India is coming into an age where smartphones and mobile phones are becoming essential to daily life.
