Starting January 1 2015, Manaveeyam Veedhi one of the most beautiful streets in the city will turn into a “food street” as mobile eateries line up along the road corridor to serve hot delicious food to late diners. Called as \u201cFood on Wheels\u201d, the novel project aims to launch late-night street food outlets in the city.<\/p>\n
The food street concept is very popular in Metro cities. The Thindi Beedi\u00a0Street in Bangalore is a famous food corridor in the city. With the ‘Food on Wheels’ Manaveeyam Veedhi will spring to life at 10 pm giving the capital city a boost to its nightlife.<\/p>\n
\u2018Food on Wheels\u2019 will function from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. during which the street would be closed to vehicular traffic.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
At least 50 street food outlets would function in ‘Food on Wheels’ project. The streets would have music to entertain the diners. By 4 am the street would be cleaned and opened to traffic. \u00a0Food on Wheels will help people arriving late in the city and those returning late from work.<\/p>\n
The projecy will be implemented by Kudumbasree and the Gender Park initiative of the Social Justice Department with the support of City Corporation. State Suchitwa Mission will give the technical and financial support for sanitation and waste management.<\/p>\n
Apart from Trivandrum the project will be implemented in Kochi and Kozhikode too. In Kozhikode, the food street will function at Valiangady while the Kochi Corporation is yet to decide the location.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
