As part of Trivandrum Corporation’s ‘My city beautiful city’ campaign mini mobile waste collection units called ‘Nirmal carts’ will be launched to collect waste from city houses.<\/p>\n
The first Nirmal cart will be rolled out at Nedumcadu next week. Later the facility will be extended to Karamana and Chalai wards. If found successful, the scheme would be extended to other wards later.<\/p>\n
Under the new scheme, waste will be measured and collected at a monthly rate of Rs 100.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Plastic and e-waste will also be collected from households once in a week. Special days will be allotted for plastic and e-waste collection. Only segregated waste will be collected and residents will be issued warnings in this regard.<\/p>\n
The waste transported by the Nirmal Mobile carts will be collected at a Resource Recovery Centre (RRC) at Nedumcadu. This will be the second RRC to be set up by the corporation. The first one had come up at Sreekanteswaram.<\/p>\n
The mobile waste collection unit will bring back the old waste collection system that existed in the city before the Vilappilsala. Currently, city residents have to bring the waste directly to aerobic bins and Nirmal waste collection kiosks that are located at various parts in the city.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
