The crafts and ingenuity of our country\u2019s artisans in making these handmade things of beauty are truly incredible. Now you have a chance to step into a world of fine craft where the best talents of our country showcase their crafts and designs. On 20th November 2014, a curated fine craft exhibition cum sales event named \u201cLeela Bazaar<\/strong>\u201d is being conducted as a 3-day fair at Trivandrum Women\u2019s Club Kowdiar.<\/p>\n

Latha Kurien Rajeev, owner and curator of La Gallery 360, Trivandrum is the curator of this Fine Craft Event. Leela Bazaar aims to introduce the little known and vanishing crafts of our country which are surviving only with the support of NGOs and local communities. The fair aims to encourage all those unknown artisans and designers to step out of their workshops and studios and to share their talents with the world. An array of designers who are into creating one-of-a-kind wares in a variety of media will be there to display their craftsmanship to the public.<\/p>\n

The bazaar promises you a wide curated selection of handmade designer eco-friendly curios, exclusive designer selection of terracotta jewellery, attractive and useful bags, pop art design collectable home accessories and limited edition indo-western women\u2019s apparel for that chic look. You can also see a selection of organic cotton and natural dyed innerwear designed for comfort, organic insect repellents and also herbal hair oils and delectable baked and sandwich treats to take home . The bazaar features only contemporary designers who create recycled, environmentally friendly, designer, handmade products.<\/p>\n

The fair features \u201cSangmitra\u201d an all-women initiative led by designer Radha Gomathy. The group creates economical, functional and colourful bags from up cycled tailoring waste and furnishing bits. The ingenuity in cuts and aesthetic combination of colour and texture ensure that the finished products stand apart in quality.<\/p>\n

Latha Kurien Rajeev herself has put together a designer clothing line named \u201cLabour of Love\u201d which is limited edition and a fusion of contemporary indo-western style with handcrafted details. LOL\u2019s maiden line is called \u201cSecrets the Yarn Spun\u201d winter collection 2014.<\/p>\n

Indigenous Industries:<\/strong>\u00a0 A rather unusual product on display at the bazaar is made by Indigenous Industries whose aim is to protect our indigenous resources. As their first project they have made handmade men\u2019s boxer shorts with naturally dyed organic cotton which are colourful, sustainable and what\u2019s more extremely comfortable. These innerwear\u2019s are made, following the century old Indian traditional dying techniques.<\/p>\n

The stall displays creations by Indu Sathyendran, a conservation architect-cum-photopgrapher. You can find here products for everyday use like trays, boxes, coasters. Everything is handmade using recycled teak wood from building industry and hand painted with beautiful colours.<\/p>\n

Abulz Marketing<\/strong>: The stall run by Benny has some must-buy products like non-toxic organic pest control products which every home needs to banish all those cockroaches, termites and lizards.<\/p>\n

Sindoori<\/strong>: An initiative by Sindhu, the stall displays homemade hair oil made with traditional family recipe. For all who love their crowning glory this product is sure to be popular.<\/p>\n
