Share-taxi services are common in metro cities like Mumbai and Bangalore. Now Trivandrum city will soon open up to the concept of share-taxi system. The district traffic advisory committee has approved the idea to introduce share-taxis and share-autos in the city.<\/p>\n
The plan is to start share-taxi-auto services from Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway station to select short-distance routes in the city prior to the IFFK and the National Games. The included routes are Secretariat, Public Office, Museum, Thycaud Hospital, East Fort, and Vazhuthacaud. \u00a0The routes have been chosen based on the traffic volume.<\/p>\n

In share-taxis, four passengers would be allowed to travel while autos would be permitted to take three passengers in one trip. Uniform rates will be introduced for share-taxi and auto services. Women-only share-taxis will also be introduced in the next phase. It will be run by forming a group of drivers chosen from those who are already running auto\/taxi service in the city.<\/p>\n

The district traffic advisory committee also decided to ban parking of vehicles from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. between Pulimoodu Junction and East Fort.
