The project undertaken by the Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple Trust aims to revive the pond and restore the water quality.<\/p>\n<p>Around 3,00,00,000 litres of water would be drained before removing the accumulated mud from the pond. A recent study on the pond found that, mud with a thickness of over 1.3 meter is spread across an area of 16,500 cubic meters. \u00a0After cleaning the temple pond, other construction activities will be started. A paved pathway from the pond to the temple, with benches for the visitors&#8217; comfort will be constructed. \u00a0The whole area will be landscaped with trees and lawn. Heritage mandapams near the pond would also be renovated and a separate facility for rainwater harvesting would be set up near the temple. \u00a0Once the renovation of the pond is completed, Padmatheertham Pond and its surroundings will become an attractive place to visit.<\/p>\n<p>The last major renovation of the pond took place in the year 1989, by pumping out the water and cleaning the bed.
