{"id":21631,"date":"2014-12-03T18:11:28","date_gmt":"2014-12-03T12:41:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/?p=21631"},"modified":"2014-12-03T18:11:28","modified_gmt":"2014-12-03T12:41:28","slug":"2-massive-led-projects-for-capital-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/2-massive-led-projects-for-capital-city\/","title":{"rendered":"2 Massive LED projects for Capital city!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two LED projects assisted by the Union Power Ministry\u2019s Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) will be implemented in the capital city.<\/p>\n<p>The first project involves lighting up the Vellayambalam-Vazhuthacaud stretch of road with seventy 100 Watt LEDs while the second project involves installing 500 LED street lamps of 45 Watts each across the City limits. Installing LED lights along the Vellayambalam-Vazhuthacaud stretch was one of the oldest LED projects planned in the state. It was conceived as a demo project. If it proved to be successful, then it will be expanded to other parts of the city.<\/p>\n<p>LEDs are costlier than incandescent bulbs or Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs), but are more energy-efficient has a life span of up to 50,000 hours and has low maintenance costs.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Trivandrum City Corporation proposed a plan to replace all the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/trivandrum-corporations-plan-to-replace-84000-streetlights-with-led-hits-roadblock\/\" target=\"_blank\">84,000 streetlights with LED<\/a> across the city in a phased manner. However, the project seems to have hit a roadblock. The Corporation is looking for a \u2018zero investment model\u2019. As per the model corporation will not spend any money on the project.
