The cleaning of Padmatheertham temple pond is fast progressing with the work on draining the water entering the final phase. The water draining works which started on November last week will be completed by next week. Almost 90% of the renovation work has been completed.<\/p>\n

After the water is completely drained, the pond will be left to dry for a few weeks before starting the work on strengthening the boundary walls. Concentrated silt will be deposited and the sidewalls will be concreted.<\/p>\n

It was found that there is not much slush in the pond as was expected before beginning the cleansing work. It was presumed that there is slush at about 1.5 metre height inside the pond. The technical study finds that the pond has a depth of 2.5m.<\/p>\n

Fish caught from the pond have been transported to Sreevaraham pond and Thrippadapuram temple pond. Fish varieties such as Catla, Rohu, Cyprinus carpio, and Albino shark were found among them.<\/p>\n

According to the current plan renovated Padmatheertham Pond<\/a>\u00a0would have bathing ghat, shower area and a cloak room. A paved pathway from the pond to the temple, with benches for the visitors\u2019 comfort will be constructed.\u00a0 The whole area will be landscaped with trees and lawn. Heritage mandapams near the pond would also be renovated.<\/p>\n

Once the renovation of the pond is completed, Padmatheertham Pond and its surroundings will become an attractive place to visit. The restoration project will be completed before the next rainy season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
