The State government has also demanded a sum of Rs200 crore to be set aside in the 2015-16 Central budget.<\/p>\n<p>Light Metro project is being envisaged as a joint venture between the state and central governments. Central government will provide Rs.805 crore for Trivandrum and Rs473 crore for Kozhikode for 5 years. The project which will cost Rs 160 crore per km will be modelled on the lines of Delhi Metro.<\/p>\n<h4>Also Read|\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/narrow-city-roads-a-hurdle-for-light-metro\/\" target=\"_blank\">Narrow city roads a hurdle for Light Metro<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>Based on 2011 Census figures, DPR has mentioned that the two cities qualify for the 1 million threshold level for introducing MRTS and has adequate per hour per direction (phpd) traffic.<\/p>\n<p>Detailed Project Report also says that\u00a02 cities currently have no reliable public transport system.
