That’s all about to change. Ministry of Railways has big plans to transform railway stations into a cleaner space.

Here’s how Railways plan to make railway stations as clean as Airports

1. Railway officers to adopt one railway station each

Railway officers to adopt one railway station each

Railway officers could adopt one railway station each in order to ensure proper cleanliness on the premises. Although there are about 7,700 stations in the country, only about 700 stations will be taken up by individual officers for cleaning in the first phase. The stations have been chosen according to the significant movement of the trains.

2. No eateries at the station platform

Eateries at the station platform creates waste

Ministry of Railways has sought a ban on cooking on platforms along with the shifting out of food stalls and eateries to keep the platform safe and clean. The food stalls create a huge amount of waste at railway stations. While cooking on platforms is one of the factors which contribute to uncleanliness, it is also considered to be a safety hazard.

3.
