If all goes well, the Government Model Boys Higher Secondary School at Thycaud will be modernized to international standards, thanks to efforts of the state government and the school’s alumni association.<\/p>\n
A meeting, chaired by chief minister Oommen Chandy, finalized a Rs 28-crore<\/strong> project to upgrade the more-than-a-century-old Model school to international standards. The School will be developed on the lines of the development programme implemented at Nadakkavu School in Kozhikode.<\/p>\n The School will be developed on the lines of the development programme implemented at Nadakkavu School in Kozhikode.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The project mooted by the school’s alumni association focuses on 21 key segments where radical changes need to be introduced. The fund will be used to improve the academic standard and set up modern infrastructure. International experts would conduct training for teachers and students. The government’s participation in the project will ensure that achieved standards will be maintained.<\/p>\n The project is expected to start from the next academic year and the allotted fund will be utilized over the next two-and-a-half years. The project would utilize the school’s 6.5 acres for upgrading facilities and would be completed in 10 years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The magnificent red building of the school which is an example of European architecture was built in 1910 during the reign of Maharaja Sree Moolam Thirunal Ramavarma. Notable alumni include Mohanlal<\/strong>, Kris Gopalakrishnan<\/strong> Ex-CEO, Infosys, E. K.
