A chain of 8 modern fish markets will come up in various parts of Trivandrum district at a total cost of Rs 16crore. The modern fish market chain will be setup by the Kerala State Coastal Area Development Corporation (KSCADC).<\/p>\n
The fish markets will come up in Venjarammoodu, Balaramapuram, Kulathur, Chirayinkeezhu, Pangode, Poovachal, Kazhakootam and Nedumangad. The foundation stone for the Venjarammoodu fish market was recently laid by K Babu, Minister for Fisheries. The eight fish market coming up in Trivandrum is a part of the state-wide network of 52 modern hygienic fish markets the KSCADC is setting up with support from the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB).<\/p>\n
The fish market coming up at Venjarammoodu will have modern facilities like a sink for cleaning the fish, a clog-proof drain, an auction hall and 62 commercial stalls with modern facilities for cutting and cleaning the fish. The market will also have a chill room, a flake ice unit and an effluent treatment plant.<\/p>\n
Besides these facilities, all modern fish markets will have anti-skid industrial tile floors, quality plumbing and electrical works, drinking water and parking facilities.<\/p>\n
Under the leadership of KSCADC, fisheries department is planning and implementing Rs 530 crore worth of projects for the overall social-economic development of the coastal areas. In Trivandrum alone, development project worth Rs 115 crore are being undertaken by the KSCADC.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
