{"id":22148,"date":"2015-01-19T15:57:40","date_gmt":"2015-01-19T10:27:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/?p=22148"},"modified":"2015-01-19T15:57:40","modified_gmt":"2015-01-19T10:27:40","slug":"call-to-elevate-trivandrum-and-kochi-airports-to-metro-status","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/call-to-elevate-trivandrum-and-kochi-airports-to-metro-status\/","title":{"rendered":"Call to elevate Trivandrum and Kochi airports to metro status"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Confederation of Kerala Tourism Industry has demanded that the Trivandrum and Kochi airports should be declared as strategically located airports on a par with the metro airports in view of the tourist and expatriate traffic to various countries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInternational flight traffic should be allowed to both the airports from all parts of the world,\u2019\u2019 urged E M Najeeb, president of CKTI. Otherwise, these airports will be left out as less important airports feeding only the \u2018spoke\u2019 traffic, connecting to the \u2018hub\u2019. These airports though strategically located and cater to the Middle East, Singapore and Maldives, had not been recognised as major airports in the draft civil aviation policy published by the Ministry.<\/p>\n<p>The confederation objected to the clause of the <a href=\"http:\/\/civilaviation.gov.in\/cs\/groups\/public\/documents\/newsandupdates\/moca_001404.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">draft civil aviation policy<\/a> that foreign airlines should be allowed to and from the metro airports only.
