State government has sanctioned Rs.2.44 crore for the repair and maintenance of sewers lines in 10 wards of Trivandrum Corporation. Health Minister V S Sivakumar said while inaugurating the renovated sewerage line near the Chenthitta temple.<\/p>\n
The ten wards include Chala, Kuriyathi, Sreevaraham, Fort, Sreekanteshwaram, Vanchiyoor, Pettah, Perunthani, Chaka and Palkulangara wards.<\/p>\n
Four sewage pumps at the Kuriathy pumping station that are now defunct will be replaced. An amount of Rs.50 lakh will be allocated for shoring up the sewerage system at Jyothipuram. The minister also said that the repair of sewerage manholes\u00a0 in Aranoor, Jagathy, Valiyasala and Kuriyathi wards at a cost of Rs 1.61 crore, was progressing at a fast pace. Meanwhile, storm water drains on the Attakkulangara-Killippalam bypass road are being strengthened at a cost of Rs.3.15 crore.<\/p>\n
Regarding other developments, Minister said that the government has given administrative sanction for Rs.25.17 crore for the construction of a rail overbridge at Melarannoor. Discussions will be held with the Railways with respect to the relocation of sewers on the land taken over by Railways near the Vyasa residents\u2019 association.
