Facebook\u2019s home city Menlo Park in the US will play host to around 100 start-ups from Kerala.<\/p>\n
At least 100 technology start-ups from Kerala could be given a chance to travel this year to the Silicon Valley to learn about the nuances of building a billion dollar tech company. Menlo Park\u2019s Mayor, Catherine Carlton, who is currently in Kerala to sign a twin-city pact with Kochi, made the offer while visiting Kochi Startup Village.<\/p>\n
“Kerala has got abundant talent and huge potential for growth. One of the objectives of the twin city agreement is to promote sharing of talent and ideas in the technology sector, thus boosting employment opportunities in both the countries,” she said.<\/p>\n
Menlo Park is currently developing a million-square-feet office space for start-up companies. This space could also be utilised by the start-ups from Kerala to expand their business.<\/p>\n
An MoU with regard to the sister-city agreement will be signed between Carlton and Kochi Mayor Tony Chammany in Trivandrum on Wednesday in the presence of state Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. It will be the first such agreement between an Indian city and Menlo Park.<\/p>\n
Menlo Park is a hi-tech city with a population of 32,000. It is one of the most prosperous cities in the US and is located in the Silicon Valley. The city which is home to several tech start-ups, has one of the most educated communities in the entire US.<\/p>\n
Facebook relocated its headquarters to Menlo Park in 2011 and currently employs 7,000 people. The city is nicknamed \u2018Capital of Venture Capital\u2019 and is a dream place of tech start-ups.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
