The second phase which will be implemented at a cost of Rs.1,061-crore through PPP model was presented on the cabinet sub-committee.<\/p>\n<p>According to the plan, an outer growth corridor comprising planned development zones for service industry, housing, health, and education and logistic hubs is mooted for the capital. This will be connected by an <strong>outer ring road (ORR)<\/strong> interconnecting NH 66, State highways, and M.C. Road.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>An outer growth corridor comprising planned development zones has been mooted for the Capital.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The development zones include a 60-acre northern logistics hub at Mangalapuram and a southern at Neeramankuzhy. The economical and commercial zones include 48 acres at Andoorkonam and 80 acres at Pantalcode. The rehabilitation and resettlement and new housing zones will be at Thungampara, Thirvuvelloor, Kandla and a recreational space at Maranalloor. Greenfield developments will be taken up in Phase I and land for development zones will be acquired through land pooling.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed &#8216;outer-ring road&#8217; will start from Mangalapuram connecting CRPF camp, Vattappara, Aruvikkara, Vilappilsala, Ooruttambalam and Balaramapuram to join bypass at Vizhinjam. The road will be of <strong>six-lane signal-free highway<\/strong>, with two lane exclusive service lane for safe local traffic and elevated roads with commercial space at junctions.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>An underground subway will be constructed at Medical College junction.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Another major project included in the CRDP programme is the improvement of 107 km of roads.\u00a0 Of this, 51 km of roads will be developed at 21-metre width. The development of major junctions, building of new bus bays and underground power cables are some of the major projects that have been included in the second phase. To ease congestion at Medical College junction and General Hospital junctions, an underground subway will be constructed. A foot over-bridge will be constructed between Trivandrum Central Railway Station and KSRTC Bus Terminal.<\/p>\n<p>Parking policy, heritage preservation, environment protection and greening the city by planting <strong>one lakh trees<\/strong> in five years are the other focus areas.<\/p>\n<p>Of the Rs.1,061-crore project, the State government will provide Rs.189 crore and Centre will provide Rs.323 crore.
