It was two years ago, when Aeropolis project was first mooted for Trivandrum International Airport. Since then, Kerala Government sanctioned Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) to conduct a pre-feasibility study for the project. However, no further news about the Aeropolis project was heard until now.<\/p>\n
After remaining idle for almost 2 years, the project is again back on the limelight with the consultancy firm ‘Knight Frank’ submitting the final feasibility report to KSIDC. KSIDC has proposed a high-level interdepartmental committee to take forward the much hyped Trivandrum Aeropolis project.<\/p>\n
The Aeropolis project is now envisaged as a regional development project that includes Kazhakuttam-Vizhinjam stretch where big establishments like Technopark, VSSC and Brahmos are located.<\/p>\n
The feasibility report has been forwarded to the transport department for initiating further steps. The proposed high-level committee include officials from transport, industries, revenue, power and other related government departments. The coordination between various departments is very crucial for the successful implementation of the project.<\/p>\n
Aeropolis is a new concept in which infrastructure, and economy is centred around an airport, existing as an airport city.\u00a0 The project envisage an economic interventions and creation of a common platform for all aviation-related activities of the major industrial and IT units situated in the vicinity of the airport.
