The water pipeline distribution works of JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) resumed after remaining idle for months. But already it has started causing hardships to city residents.<\/p>\n
JICA started lying of pipes on Kunchalumoodu-Thamalam road which repaired by PWD just a week ago. According to PWD officials, JICA asked for permission to dig only a small portion of the road and it won’t cause much damage to the road. However, district administration stated that the Kunchalumoodu-Thamalam road will be blocked for work till the end of this month, indicating that there will be a major work on the road.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile JICA said that their original plan was to lay the pipe along Kunjalumoodu Bridge. \u201cHowever, railways did not give permission as it doesn’t allow pipelines over railway lines. So, we had to change plans.\u201d said a JICA official to TOI.<\/p>\n
The pipeline will go through Sastri Nagar, cross the railway line through an underground tunnel and pass to Karamana Bridge to serve water to Pappanamcode and Neeramankara areas.<\/p>\n
Some months ago a committee led by district collector Biju Prabhakar was formed for coordinating with various departments for road work after several complaints came up against the damage of roads caused by such public works. The lack of coordination between various government departments is the main reason behind unnecessary delay and inefficiency in execution of various projects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
