If the reports are true, the state government is likely to go in for direct negotiations with the bidders. The reports further say that Chief Minister would convene a high-level meeting this week to finalise the formalities for direct negotiation with the three companies. The contract is for building port superstructure, estimated to cost of Rs.6,000 crore, and operate the port for a period of 40 years. Five major port operating companies have qualified for submitting tenders after global tender floated by (VSPL). But only three entities\u2014Essar Ports, Adani Ports and a consortium of Srei Infrastructure and OHL\u2014had submitted expression of interest for submitting tenders but they also did not submit final bid.<\/p>\n
Officials are very optimistic and hope that companies will submit the final bid once Supreme Court pronounces its final verdict on March 18th.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Unfortunately chances of starting the project soon after Supreme Court verdict are also very bleak. Even if the tender is submitted within the deadline, the bid has to be reviewed by technical consultant and legal consultant before the tender is extended to any of the consoritums.<\/p>\n
