If all goes well, you can enjoy the aerial beauty of the Capital city from <strong>March<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) is joining hands with a Bangalore-based aviation firm to implement &#8216;Heli-tourism&#8217; in Trivandrum. The first ever intra-district tourism programme is aimed at domestic as well as foreign tourists to take short-distance travel between the major tourism destinations in the capital. After Trivandrum, heli-tourism service will be launched in Bolgatty in Kochi too.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Travel enthusiasts can reach between various tourist destinations in Trivandrum much faster, avoiding traffic blocks.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A six- seater helicopter will be used for heli-tourism. A sum of <strong>Rs 4000<\/strong> will be charged per head for a two-way trip. Five key tourist locations including Kovalam and Neyyar dam will be included in the heli-tourism project. Travel enthusiasts can reach between various tourist destinations in a faster way avoiding traffic blocks.<\/p>\n<p>To make better starting points, KTDC is expecting helipads and has written to the authorities in charge of University stadium and Chandrasekharan Nair stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. The number of trips per day will be fixed later.<\/p>\n<p>KTDC had rejected the proposal for inter-district heli-tourism service as past experience had proved it unviable. In 2006, a similar project was launched in association with Deccan Aviation to connect major tourist destinations in Kerala. But the project came to a sudden end as it failed to attract tourists. A whopping <strong>Rs 35,000<\/strong> for a 30 minutes tour for 5 people is way too expensive, even for foreign travellers.
