To clear the huge rush of passengers reaching (and leaving) Trivandrum city for the \u2018Pongala\u2019 festival at Attukal Temple, Southern Railway has set up more facilities and will run special trains with additional stops.<\/p>\n

Railways have setup additional ticket counters at Trivandrum Central. Facility for purchasing return tickets will be available. \u00a0As part of Attukal pongala Railways will run two special trains between Trivandrum and Kollam – one each on Wednesday and Thursday.<\/p>\n
Trains towards Kollam<\/strong><\/h4>\n
The first train will leave Kollam at 3pm on Wednesday and reach Trivandrum Central at 5.15pm. It will return at 3.30pm on Thursday after Pongala and reach Kollam Junction at 5.40pm. On Pongala day, the special train to Trivandrum will leave Kollam station at 4am and reach Thampanoor at 5.55am. It will return from Trivandrum central at 3.45pm and reach Kollam at 6.15pm. One more Special train, from Trivandrum will start at 4.30pm and will reach Kollam Junction at 6.30pm. All the trains will have stop at all stations between Trivandrum and Kollam.<\/p>\n
Trains towards Nagarcoil<\/strong><\/h4>\n
Kochuveli-Nagercoil Passenger (56317) scheduled to leave Kochuveli at 11.50am on Thursday has been rescheduled to start at 2.15pm. It will resume from Trivandrum Central at 3.30pm and will reach Nagercoil at 5.40pm. Nagercoil – Kochuveli Passenger (56318) on Wednesday will be attached with 2 additional coaches. Nagercoil – TrivandrumPassenger (56310) and Nagercoil – Kochuveli passenger (56318) will be attached with 2 additional coaches on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Security tightened<\/strong><\/h4>\n
RPF has arranged special security arrangements in connection with the Pongala festival. Additional manpower has been drawn from other divisions under the Southern Railway and 145 women constables will also be on duty.\u00a0 All trains will have RPF escorts both in uniform and in plain clothes. Bomb Detection Squad and Dog Squad have also been mobilised. Additional lighting, announcement, first aid counters will be setup. Effective coordination with Kerala Fire and Rescue Services and other agencies will be maintained.<\/p>\n
