The preliminary work will be taken up by the TRDCL this week after submitting the work schedule to the Kerala Road Fund Board (KRFB).<\/p>\n<p>The work will start on the six-lane Kowdiar-RR Lamp and Asan Square-Airport stretches. The 2.4-km stretch from Kowdiar Square to RR Lamp, developed in 2006, has suffered the maximum wear and tear. The 9.2-km stretch from Asan Square to the airport will get a profile correction and relaying.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from these 900-m stretch on Poonthi Road will also be relayed. The settlement on the 900-metre stretch on Poonthi Road is owing to the illegal parking of water tankers with a tonnage of around 17 tonnes continuously in a spot. The stretch will be scarified before starting the relaying works.<\/p>\n<p>The total repair works will incur an expenditure of Rs.7.5 crore to the TRDCL. Meanwhile, TRDCL has decided to take up on another 5,500 cu m on corridors developed under phase II costing another Rs7.5 crore as per the current estimate. The stretches were dug up on various times for pipe-bursts and for laying cables and are giving a bumpy ride to the motorists.<\/p>\n<p>TRDCL had been asked to complete all the maintenance work within a month.
