From now onwards the maintenance of the 42 km of roads developed in the capital under the City Roads Improvement Project (CRIP) will be under taken by a Spanish company named Elsamex SA. TRDCL has asked the firm to take over the upkeep of the city roads.<\/p>\n
Elsamex SA, a specialist in comprehensive maintenance, operation, and management of road systems will bring more organised and professional approach to the maintenance of city roads. The firm provide various services such as quality control, testing, and certification of roads and enjoyed a high reputation in Europe. Elsamex has introduced over more than 60 new hi-tech methods<\/strong> in highways construction and maintenance in Europe. The practices would be adopted here too to make city roads to global standards.<\/p>\n According to the plan, the company will setup a helpline centre, 24-hour control room, towing truck, integrated CCTV control system, sprinklers for the gardens and lawns developed and parking lot management. Strict actions will be taken against encroachments on the corridors. Also, vandalism of traffic islands, bus stops, and trees would be prevented and strong action will be taken against such acts.<\/p>\n The company will maintain CRIP road for a period of 15 years. Almost 37Km<\/strong> of roads developed under CRIP had been handed over for maintenance. IL&FS Transportation Networks (ITNL), a subsidiary of IL&FS, has been doing the work for the past 8 years under BOMT mode.
