The Kerala government approved a recommendation by the high power panel, chaired by Chief Secretary Jiji Thomson despite strong opposition from the Opposition. However, an official announcement will be made only after the government gets the Election Commission’s nod in the wake of the Aruvikkara by-poll.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Union Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari had stated that the project might be moved to Colachel in Tamil Nadu if the political differences in the state is not resolved fast. The Union Minister also prompted Kerala Government not to delay the final decision.<\/p>\n
There won\u2019t be any change in the tender terms and agreements of the project. Adani Group, which is the largest private port operator in India, had submitted the bid on April 24 and sought Rs 1,635 crore as grant. This is being made available as a viability grant fund to be shared equally by the state and Central Governments, a first for a port project.<\/p>\n
The Adanis will invest on their own Rs. 2,454 crore. It is expected that the port project will be exempted from Cabotage laws for a few years as promised by the Prime Minister and the Union Shipping Minister.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
