Kerala State Biodiversity Board (KSSB) said that work on the Biodiversity Park coming up at Vallakadavu boat jetty will be over this year.<\/p>\n
KSSB is building a 1.5 crore worth Biodiversity Museum and a model aquatic ecosystem at Vallakadavu boat jetty. Department of Tourism has given the jetty to the Board on a 30-year-lease.<\/p>\n
There will be models depicting the unique biodiversity of Kerala such as\u00a0the biodiversity of Agasthyamala.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The repair works and electrification of the 5,000-square-feet building at the jetty is carried out by Kerala State Nirmithi Kendra. The walls inside have been painted and the wood work in the building has been burnished with French polish. The museum will have a 3D Theatre and LCD displays. It will be developed by the Kerala State Science and Technology Museum. There will be models depicting the unique biodiversity of Kerala such as below-sea level farming of Kuttanad or the biodiversity of Agasthyamala.<\/p>\n

The water body at the jetty will be cleaned and turned into a model ecosystem. Fish, frogs and turtles will be introduced to the water. Though bound by a stone foundation, the water body is connected to the Parvathy Puthanar. Currently, there is a strong current of clear water which seeps from the compound towards the river. Environment-friendly methods will be used to prevent fish and other animals from entering the river.<\/p>\n
Built in the 1820s, the Vallakadavu boathouse was the hub of commercial activities in the erstwhile State of Travancore. It served as an important link in the waterway for travel and cargo transport from one end of the princely State to the other. There were four docks inside the boathouse, parallel to one another, about 25 m long and 5 m wide.
