The United Arab Emirates will set up its Consulate General in Trivandrum. It was announced by Mohamed Sultan Abdalla Al Owais, Ambassador of the UAE to India.<\/p>\n

An order sanctioning the setting up of the Consulate General in Trivandrum was signed by UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Consulate General will facilitate visa services and verification of documents for other purposes and will be a boost for thousands of Keralites in the Gulf country.<\/p>\n
This is the first time a Gulf country is establishing its consulate in Kerala.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
\u201cThe Consulate General would be operational in the next two to three months. The new Consulate is expected to boost the trade between Kerala and UAE as it would help more investment to flow from UAE to Kerala. We will also be able to offer more services to the people travelling to UAE\u201d said Mohamed Sultan Abdalla Al Owais<\/p>\n
The embassy will also serve other South Indian states. At present, such services are provided by the UAE Embassy in Delhi and the Consulate in Mumbai.<\/p>\n
The UAE Ambassador has officially requested the state government to provide security for the proposed embassy building. The request letter has been handed over to the Home Department for further action. Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has directed the DGP to initiate necessary action in this regard.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
