Earlier, the project had received nod from the Election Commission for resuming activities related to the project provided public functions and other forms of publicity are avoided. The Cabinet had given its nod for the project on June 10, and forwarded the matter for the approval from Election Commission since the election code of conduct was in effect in view of the Aruvikkara by-election. The by-election is slated for June 27, Saturday.<\/p>\n

The state government had also convened an all-party meeting on account of the objections raised by the Opposition regarding the terms and conditions. Although the meeting proved inconclusive, government decided to go ahead with the project as it was crucial for the state\u2019s development.<\/p>\n
If everything goes according to the plan, the first phase of the seaport will be completed in four years\u2019 time. Adani Ports has sought Rs 1,635 crore as grant from the government.
