From now onwards, parking will not be allowed along the MG Road from Martyrs\u2019 Square at Palayam up to Ganapathy temple, Pazhavangadi from 9:30AM to 11:30AM and from 3:30PM to 6PM. The new decision is to ensure free flow of traffic along the six-lane stretch.<\/p>\n
The new parking rules are being implemented as per the directive of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law & Order, Traffic) K. Sanjay Kumar Gurudin as per the orders issued by the District Collector.<\/p>\n
Parking restriction is from Palayam to Pazhavangadi during 9:30AM to 11:30AM and from 3:30PM to 6PM.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
To ensure that the restrictions are implemented, traffic police will deploy Assistant Sub-Inspectors on the 2.4-km stretch. After 11.30AM the police will use two patrol teams to warn those parking vehicles on the stretch of the next parking restrictions that will commence at 3.30PM. The traffic police will also start awareness program among the motorists, and after a week action would be taken against those defying the restriction.<\/p>\n

On the 6-lane road, one lane each on both sides of the carriageway is used for parking, due to this, there happens long traffic snarls during the rush hours of morning and evening. Shop owners, staff of the offices dotting the arterial road, and those in commercial establishments often park their vehicles on the stretch from morning to night.<\/p>\n
The police had enforced similar parking restrictions on the M.G. Road in December during the National Games.
