Soon, traffic snarls at Attingal Town will be a thing of the past as the state government has given administrative sanction to Rs 22.75 Crore for the road widening project to decongest Attingal.<\/p>\n
Once the land acquisition gets completed, road widening will commence along the busy Moonnumukku to Poovanpara stretch. Moonnumukku-Poovanpara stretch is the most heavily congested stretch in the Attingal Town. Around 100 traders along the 3km stretch have already signed forms to surrender their land free of cost for road widening works.\u00a0 Last year, a meeting was convened by MLA B Satyan to conduct talks with traders. Most traders had then supported the decision to surrender land free of cost. Around 1.36 acre of land has been surrendered freely to the government by the people of Attingal.<\/p>\n

PWD minister V K Ebrahim Kunju has convened a meeting on Thursday to discuss land acquisition issues. The alignment of the road has been fixed and decision on land acquisition will be taken in Thursday’s meet.<\/p>\n

It is estimated that around 100 buildings, 48 on one side and 52 on the other side, will be affected by the work. The initial estimate of the project was Rs 15 crore. Later, PWD submitted a revised estimate of Rs 22.75 crore which was approved recently.<\/p>\n
