A four-member delegation of the\u00a0 Adani Group led by Karan Adani, executive director of Adani Ports and son of Group chairman Gautham Adani, will hold discussions with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today to work out implementation details of the multi crore Vizhinjam deep sea port project.<\/p>\n
The group will hold discussions with the Chief Minister in his chamber in the State Assembly at 12 noon.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The dates of signing of the concession agreement and commencement will be decided at this meeting. The state government had issued the Letter of Award to the Gujarat-based Adani Group last week. As per the letter of award, the Adanis are required to sign the agreement within 45 days, but this would be completed within 30 days.<\/p>\n
The Adani Ports Ltd. is required to provide the contracted bank guarantee of Rs. 150 crore to the State government prior to signing the agreement. All these procedures would be completed in such a manner so as to hold the foundation stone laying ceremony on November 1.<\/p>\n
Kerala has also asked the Centre to take a decision soon on its request for relaxation of cabotage for the Vizhinjam port. However, the project is not included in the draft proposal prepared by the Union Government. The government has proposed a waiver of the rule only for the ports on the eastern coast.<\/p>\n
Union Ports Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Friday that the government was actively considering waiving the cabotage rule for the Vizhinjam Port. He said he would follow it up after consulting the Prime Minister\u2019s Office and offered all support for the project.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
