The decision was taken as part of precautionary measures at a meeting that was convened by District Collector Biju Prabhakar. Police, Coast Guard and Revenue officials and Church representatives took part in the meeting. The meeting was held in the wake of the incident where four youths went missing after they ventured into the sea off Kovalam coast last Saturday night defying the restrictions and warnings.<\/p>\n
Special announcements will be arranged through loud-speakers at the dangerous coastal strips of the three beaches of Kovalam such as Light house, Sea rock and Samudra. Sign boards in multiple languages warning beachgoers will be displayed at various points on the beach.<\/p>\n

The rocks at the light house beach will be illuminated, so that the surveillance team could ensure no one enters into the area during late hours. Special watchtowers will also be installed to observe the tourists who defy rules and venture into the sea.<\/p>\n
The meeting also discussed the ongoing search operations to trace the four missing persons being carried out by the coast guard, coastal police and marine enforcement. The district administration has announced rewards for fishermen who assist in search operations for the four missing persons.
