Arteria, an art project to turn city walls into one long canvas is gaining momentum nearly a year after its conception.<\/p>\n
The state government is actively reviewing the project and a sum of Rs 15 lakh has been released to implement the pilot project. Arteria will be jointly implemented by district tourism promotion council (DTPC) and the district administration. Authorities are planning to launch the project on August 1.<\/p>\n
The pilot project will be carried out around 8,000 sq ft space on the wall of the university stadium.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Already applications have been invited from artists who wish to be a part of the project. The artists will be selected by a committee headed by MLA K Muraleedharan and will be given time till August 20 to complete their works. Artists Kanayi Kunhiraman and B D Dathan will be a part of the committee.<\/p>\n
The walls and buildings along MG Road will be painted on themes related to the city’s rich culture and heritage.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The DTPC has asked artists to submit models on 5:3 feet paper. In real, each painting will be 7-feet high and 20-feet long. The theme must be related to tourism, heritage, history and culture of the city. Acrylic, enamel or emulsion can be used. Initially, walls and buildings along MG Road will be painted on themes related to the city’s rich culture and heritage.<\/p>\n
Project Arteria was supposed to take off on Chingam 1 last year. In fact, tourism minister A P Anil Kumar had unveiled the logo of Arteria 2014 last August.
