The Technical University was supposed to be inaugurated by Abdul Kalam.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Technical University of Kerala would be named ‘APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University of Kerala’. The announcement was made by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in the state Assembly.<\/p>\n
“Dr Kalam was a person who had made exceptional contributions to accelerate India’s pace in the field of science and technology. He had close connections with the state for around 20 years as a scientist,” he said. “So we decided to name the Technological University as APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University,” Mr Chandy said.<\/p>\n
The Technical University was supposed to be inaugurated by Kalam. Abdul Kalam was very interested in setting up a technical university in Kerala. Tamil Nadu has Anna University, Karnataka has Visvesvaraya Technological University and Hyderabad has Jawaharlal Nehru University.<\/p>\n
Currently, the Technical University has a temporary campus at CET, Sreekaryam. The university is being set up for the promotion of technical education and all the colleges and academic institutions in the state offering technical education will be brought under it.<\/p>\n
As many as 173 colleges engineering colleges have submitted their affiliation applications to Kerala Technological University. Of these 137 are private self-financing colleges.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
