Anil Kumar Pandala, director of Kariavattom Sports Facilities Limited said the company is actively considering installing drop-in cricket pitches at the Greenfield Stadium. The new technology will help the stadium to switch between cricket and football seamlessly.<\/p>\n
A drop-in pitch is a movable cricket pitch which is prepared away from the ground. When it is needed, the pitch is literally “dropped in” to place. This allows multi-purpose venues to host other sports and events and the pitch won\u2019t be damaged. Drop-in pitches are usually 24 metres long, three metres wide and 20 centimetres deep. It is commonly used in venues in Australia and New Zealand that host multiple sports<\/p>\n
IL&FS said that they are considering various technologies to tackle the issue of multi-sport compatibility and drop-in pitches is one among them. At the moment, nothing has been finalised.<\/p>\n
